Textbooks F.A.Q.

What to Expect

The average student spends $400 per semester on textbooks. This price is not included in your tuition.

You need to come prepared to pay for your textbooks. You can save 25% of the price of new books if you purchase used books from the Campus Bookstore.

Textbooks are expensive. Is there any way I can get some of my money back?

At the end of the semester you can get up to 50% of your money back during our used book buyback. The amount you receive depends on a number of factors, including whether or not the book will be used again the next semester, store stock levels and condition of the book.

Books that have been marked with writing or highlighting may have value, as long as the textbook is in resalable condition. If you're unsure, feel free to bring your books for appraisal.

Where Do I Purchase My Books?

The Campus Store has everything you need. Each class may have one or more textbooks and other materials assigned to it. Always have your schedule on hand when ordering your textbooks - the same class with different professors may have different books. You can order your textbooks online, or bring your schedule into the store.

How Do I Order Online?

If you're ordering online, please follow these steps:

  1. Click here to log-in. If you haven't already, follow the "Register Here" link to register with the bookstore. A shipping address is required for registration, however you can still pick up your books at The Campus Store.
  2. Make sure you have your schedule on hand, and click here for the textbook order form.
  3. Select the term that you are registered for. If you're not sure, double check your schedule.
  4. You will see a list of departments underneath. Take a look at your schedule - each class has a Department listed. Check each department that is in your schedule, and click "Continue to Get Course Materials."
  5. Now you will see a list of courses based on the departments that you selected. Check each class that is on your schedule, and click "Continue To Get Course Materials."
  6. The textbooks required for each class will appear on the next page. Select if you want the book new or used.
  7. You can either go to your shopping cart or print a book list. A book list is just that, a list of your required books for you to print. Clicking on "Shopping Cart" will take you to your cart where you can order and pay for your books. You have the option to pick up your textbook order at the store, but you will be asked for a billing and shipping address. Complete those sections, then select the Shipping Method as Pick Up (Textbooks). All orders must be prepaid, and funds must be available at the time your order is processed by the Campus Store.

Remember, the earlier that you order, the more likely you will receive a less expensive, used textbook.

How Do I Purchase at the Bookstore?

If you prefer to get your books when you arrive on campus, all you need to do are these three, simple steps.

  1. Bring your schedule to the textbook section of The Campus Store.
  2. The books will be pulled for you by one of our staff members.
  3. Pay for your textbooks.

Remember, a lot of students will be picking up textbooks orders at the beginning of the semester. To avoid missing any classes, make sure you come to the bookstore early. It may take up to a half hour(?) to fill your order, so preordering your textbooks can help lower that time significantly.

Refunds

Refunds are allowed for one week from the start of classes. All returns must be accompanied by a valid cash register receipt. Check our web site for details.

In order to receive a refund on books purchased for the current semester:

  • Bring your receipt and student ID.
  • Your books, if new, must not be marked in any way or opened from their original packaging. If you purchased a used book then it may be returned in saleable condition.
  • Come in before the return deadline.

EBooks

Some titles will be available as EBooks. Please be aware of the following:

Many versions of EBooks will have the following advantages:

  • Contain links to updated audio, video and internet links within the text.
  • Ability to search for a particular word or phrase within any/all EBooks purchased.
  • Much lighter than a book.
  • Saves paper/trees so long as students do not print out pages.
  • Ability to modify layout and font size.
  • Initial cost usually 66% - 75% of the printed text.

Some disadvantages may include:

  • Non returnable once downloaded. This will affect students who change or drop a course.
  • Contains only the information within the original text, any information on supplemental materials such as a CD would not be included.
  • Unable to sell back at the end of a semester for up to the 50% paid back by the Campus Store.
  • Total cost is more than a bound text if the text will be used again and bought back by a bookstore for resale. $120 printed text is bought back for $60 = $60 total cost. EBook cost = $79.25.
  • Sometimes only allows a limited amount of pages students may print out.
  • Not as easily shared by students.
  • Sometimes only licensed for a twelve month period, after that the EBook would need to be repurchased.
